Default looking for a cam

I am installing a 5.3 in my 50 chevy truck street rod and want a cam that has a nice choppy idle. the engine is stock other than a tune and headers I am keeping the stock convertor in the 4l60e, so that limits me a bit. the motor camet of a 06 tahoe. mainly want low to midrange power and more importantly an old school choppy idle. the truck weighs around 3500 pounds and the rear gear is 3.73

if you just want a mean choppy idle stick around 112 lsa... lower the lift.. lower the power curve generally.. and vise versa.

Most cams will give you a specific operation range on the description

Dang, that little 220cam sounds pretty mean for it's size. Is that tuned, or is the idle just really low?

whats the reason u dont want a converter??

IMO seat of the pants feel a converter will feel better than that 220 cam swap
(it was my first cam in my truck) it lasted a whole month!!!

You will not get the full potential out of that cam with out a converter. If you dont want to buy a converter just get a corvette cam.

I have heard that the 4l60 is a very weak trans and did want to spend money there, if I decided to mod the engine more later I will go with the stronger 4l80.why did it only last a month?
