Default LQ4+243 milled to .030- Whats your thoughts?

I am planning to start over with this thing and try to get some decent power out of it. My plan is to have EPS spec me a nitrous cam, which i have already sent them the info. Just want to get an idea to go on to figure cam lift. Next, are 243s milled to .030 and worked by AI.

Now what should my compression ratio be at with this setup? Have seen different opinions of this.

What should the cc be with 243 milled this much? Im thinking 60cc correct?

What about PTV issues? Could i be ok since this is a dished piston (6-7cc)?

I am wanting to shoot for around 11.0 compression since gas is not to good around this area and has 10% ethanol in it. I do run a 3800 converter and 4.56 gear. But im thinking of swapping gear ratio to 4.30s. THis is all through a 4l80e also.

Thanks.

With out knowing anything about your cam, can't help with PTV. But you are right around the same neighborhood my motor is, I milled 243's .020" and ran a .040" cometic gasket. I was right at 11-1. Should run like hell. I have a 3600 and a 4.56 gear also.

MPFD i have always been a fan of your setup. I was planning on running .040 gaskets if i could get away with it. Im thinkin about keeping the lift around .610 or less. Maybe EPS will respond on what they think would be best. How large of cams lift are u guys running?

The slip I have on record, was with a Patriot 225/229 .590" cam, I was running a 236/244 .617 .612, but I cut .060" deep fly cuts in it when I built the motor and the BRE cam really has tighter PTV clearance then I wanted. I'm waist deep in a new motor now, but it will use the same BRE cam...

Mines a 226/230 600/605 111+3 on a 108 ICL I didn't have any problems with PTV clearance

Regardless of what anyone else's set up has worked or not worked. PTV clearance needs to be checked and corrected if its to tight. Running too close puts you at risk for a disaster if you happen to have an accident during operation...

Yeah i always try to go the best and safest route with my setup. The current cam is a 230/236 .595/.602 112. But this is with 72cc 317s. You think i should just leave the cam i currently have installed, with the 243s like i want and go from there with PTV. Kinda for an idea of what i need, before i order the new cam? Would hate to fly cut but if it needs it thin thats what i gotta do.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Whats a good safe PTV reading/setting?

So with .030 milled i would need only .051 gaskets for around 11.0 compression?
And
.020 milled with .040 gaskets for around the same ratio?
