LQ4 6.0 w/ Milled 243s
i'm putting a 6.0 in my truck and trying to decide what cam to go with.
i'm going to be running a VIG3200 a FLT level 5 tranny either 4:10s or 4:30s with a detroit tru trac.
(the truck in the Sig 01 GMC Sierra Ext Cab.)
which cam:
230/236 .592/.602 112 LSA
or
230/224 .575/.563 111 LSA
it's meant for a street truck, but at the same time i want a low 1/4 mile time.
i dont care how the D.D aspect of it will be as long as it has a great power band and all the other needed things in life.
Thanks

dont just throw parts on the motor and expect it to work...i cant say whats best but choosing a cam with milled heads is different that throwing a cam on stock heads. you can f*** s*** up if you get the combo wrong. how much are the heads milled and what size gasket do you plan to use?

i was planning on just a stock gasket.
they are bone stock 243s non milled, i just want them milled and such.

yea 10:5 is about the compression i want.
i'm looking for a good cam in the 114LSA because it'd be driven in city and easier to tune like Joe said.
243s (stock) it has yellow springs, but i wouldn't mind going with a set of patriot gold duals.
44lb injectors
pacesetter L/T ORY
custom tune
FLT level 5 tranny
VIG3200
either 4:10s or 4:30s i'm undecided still
Detroit TrueTrac
05 Radiator and E-fans
P&P TB
C.A.I.
ARP Head Studs
ARP Main Rod Bolts
Underdrive Pullies (w/ Over drive for the ALT.)
that's my mod list.....i want the most power out of the cam (Street wise) because i'll drive it more than i drag race it(but i do like to street race).
OH, i've been looking and looking, BUT i have yet to find a set of Aftermarket Motor Mounts. i was thinking of just putting polyurethane motor mounts, and tranny mount. Then when I get enough cash I'll sell my spindles/coils/flip kit and pick up the Hotchkis TVS System for my truck.
Thanks

i would go with the 230/224 .575/.563 111 LSA.
you need to figure out your dcr and scr with that cam and base that around how much you want to mill the heads and how thick of a head gasket you want to run.
shoot for no more than 8.7 dcr and low to mid 11's for the scr.

exactly what i was talking about. do your homework before chunking parts on a motor. like i said before, i cant recomend parts on your app becuase i have no experience with 6.o's, but, if you already have the heads, call a custom cam grinder to match a cam to the heads
what is the compression of the 243s stock on a LQ4?
the motor wont be put together for another 3 or 4 months so i'll have a lot of time to think about this whole cam.
