LQ4 build help

There's way more to choosing a cam than just pointing at one.
When you say run the **** out of it is that on the track, in the woods, on the rocks?
What are your goals? Are you looking for more low end, or high end? Are the heads stock or ported? What other work has been done to the truck?

You'll probably want a cam with more top end than anything else, but just to make sure we need to know a little more about your setup. I'll leave actual cam selection to someone more knowledgeable than I. I'm just trying to remove as many variables as possible.
What class are you running? If it's with the NTPA I'm assuming it's Super Stock.
Any rule book you have to abide by?
What kind of traction do you expect with the tires you run? You'll probably be pretty traction limited and will want quite a bit of tire speed. Do you know what RPM range you're shooting to use going down the track?
Do you know the type of sled you'll be pulling? If it's a racing sled (getting more prevalent all the time) you don't need nearly the low end grunt and can get by with a high RPM screamer.

Im trying to run the stock class and the modified class. So I am trying to look stock but not run stock. I need to build a rpm screamer for the type of sled I will be pulling. As for as tires I will be running 33 12.5 Truxus sts.

Modified? If it's NTPA modified I'm not sure that a production truck would be competitive. My father and I ran a tube frame fiberglass body 540 CID BBC on Alcohol and ended up in the middle of the pack at a lot of pulls. There's very little stock about a modified.

I am not running NTPA it is just local farm class. They have a stock class (no headers, no alum intake, nos, etc), modified (headers, no race fuel, turbo, etc), open (all motor no ci limit, etc).
