lq4 questions
I am building a 6 liter for my sierra. my 5.3 broke a piston so i might as well step up to 6.0 my truck is a 2003. i believe it has a 24 tooth reluctor so what years lq4 have the same. also i have 6.125 eagle h beam rods that i plan on using. what is the stock rod length with the 6.0 and i would also like to find the stock deck height and stroke. thanks.

all 99 through 07's have the 24x thats good to know. did they use the 58x on the gto's? for some reason i was told it needed to be a 01-03 to have the 24x.what about the rod length will i be able to find pistons to work with my 6.125 rods?

Stock rod length is 6.098 on ALL LS motors except the 4.8, which has a 6.276 rod.
Stock LQ4's have a 9.4 compression. You can take the 317 heads and have them milled .040 to give approx 64cc chambers, which will bump the compression to around 10:1 with a .041 gasket. You must be careful though when milling and running a cam with large duration/high lift when you run into PTV clearance. It's always nice since you're gonna have the head off to clay it to see what your PTV clearance looks like with whatever cam you decide to go with.
In all honesty, the GM hotcam runs well in the 6.0's. Peaks torque around 5100rpm's and peak HP around 6100, which is pretty decent for a truck and doesn't have rediculously high lift. You can expect to have around 450-475 crank hp out of a LQ4 (stock) with the hotcam when tuned properly
