Default lq9 short block limits

I got 2005 turbod lq9 running 14 psi of boost. It's got ported heads. Isky 218 cam, and Pro Flow intake. Runs on 91 pump gas plus 100% meth. It made 708rwhp on the dyno about a 1 1/2 years ago. I was thinking about throwing a little more boost at it and was wondering how more it will probably take before she blows. I'm already over 100k miles it.

I'd say you are near the limits of the stock bottem end. I've always read somewhere around 700-800whp.

Very few on this site have touched the true limit of a sbe. Stock48 is one.

Assuming 20% drivetrain loss ive pushed 1140 hp thru a stock lq9. Ive got a pile of track timeslips and a couple pounds of rubber on my bedsides to back it up.

Ethanol, 160-170 deg ECTs,.75 lambda, and 13.5-15*

Do LQ9's run GEN 4 rods??

Because it seems that GEN 3 rods are known to bend at or near the horsepower this guy is running.

Around 2-3 minutes he shows the bent rods.

Lq9 is first motor to have strong rods

Ive made close to 1100 rwhp on strong rod motor and probably one of highest rpm turning combo

But if tune is wrong any number will cause it to fail.
.now ive recently had a old motor ive pushed hard torn down and saw main caps walked badly around 900 rwhp

Also over 1000 that stock crank will flex like a bitch

So 700-850 should live a solid life

Weight also plays a big role. Georges setup was in a lightweight. Also dyno # means little to nothing about how it will hold up. It could make 900 dyno then load it up in the 1/4 it can scatter
