It would be fun to destroke and have a high reving engine for the track in a car I can't see it working well in a truck that needs low end torque to keep moving.
However this does bring up an interesting question. What ever happend to the 01 302ci z28 project that GM got with Westech Automotive to build?
I had heard of great power out put at 6k rpm but have heard NOTHING beyond that. Did it just fall through or what?

I heard the westech project was shown for a couple of years the scrapped.
Another guy in a Hot-Rod article built his own and put it into a 68 Camaro using stock LT-1 block and heads with the 267ci LT-1 varient 3" stroke to finish the combo. It got out 420 HP, and probily would of been very streetable for such a ci vs hp deal. My friend got a LT-4 and we swapped the cam plus a couple other things out for a bit over 500 horse. While pretty mean to drive it was no where near as wrong as my comperabley horsed 357sbc.
I wonder if the reason they scrapped the idea was that 302 or 5.0 was so associated with Ford they figured it wouldn't fly. Also they SCCA rules that mandated the 305ci rule in the 60's were scrapped in the very early 70's, and race motors had since evolved to have little in common with any street motor except the name.
I think the heritage 2010 Camaro should have a 302 or 327 inch motor. Although I would get the V6 becouse my house is pretty effcient at parting me from my money.

i love projects that are different and this is one. i say do and to hell with everyone. are you doing it for you or for everyone else? its really simple. use the 4.8 crank and rods with lq9 pistons. gm made up the difference in crank with the rods. where its gonna get expensive is with balancing that short stroke crank for the heavy pistons. try to find some real light aftermarket forgings then turbo the mother. have fun with it regardless.
