ls1 hotcam

with the tb converter I would go no larger then the 212/218 hi lift comp cam. That will make great power. And if you get a good tune behind that should suprise you. Up your N2O shot to a 125 and you will have a easy 12 sec truck if you make her hook. Assuming its a rcsb.

It's a rcsb and allready runs 13.7. Traction has never been much of a problem with my 4/6 drop. 1.9-2.1 60ft spraying shortly out the hole, flashing the stock tq. I need more up top to go with my 29" tire. I know bigger gears would do alot but I kinda want to stick with the 3.42. My thought's were with a tq and good tune I could break the 12's. cam would help me go deeper say 12.5's? with traction of course and a good track which we have here with Memphis Motorsports.

212/218 will work with ls6 springs I do believe. Gears are for lower rpms and torque more so then higher rpms and speed.
You need a 3000+ tq converter and a cam. If you really want to start pushing on the door of low 12's you need to do alot of reasearch on your cam. Mine is a BABY but on bottle my cam really wakes up. 10.00 in 1000ft is roughly 11.9-12.1 in 1/4.

Although my lowend improved over stock, the HotCam doesn't make a lot of power until 2200-2500'ish. It really pulls hard right before you hit 3k though. I'm putting a TB stall in the truck over spring break, hopefully when I get the trans built and put in. I will say that the Hot Cam is very drivable and didn't require extensive tuning down low. It is maxing out my injectors already though. I'm at 100% injector duty cycle at 6200 when I shift. Only mods are in my sig.

Hey fellas,
Since this thread is up I figured I'd ask a question on behalf of my buddy who's putting an 01 5.3L into his 2wd S10. He picked up a stock LS1 camshaft off ebay thinking it'll make a noticeable gain in his top end but he's wanting more. Will the GMPP Hot cam be too much in a little 5.3? This is just a sport truck, not a daily driver and he's built it to rev all day long.
LS1 intake and fuel rails/injectors off ebay, shorty headers (only ones that fit the S10 V8 swap), and true duals out the back with pretty much stock 5.3L.
Any opinions?

why do people insist on the hot cam? There is nothing special about it. It's just GM's performance cam offering. You can get any cam you want from comp for $400.
Also, I hate to break it to you, but the ls1 intake will hurt performance over the truck intake and true duals are a bit excessive.
