Ls2 timing chain in 4.8?
I seen some people swap to a ls2 timing chain when doing a cam swap for added assurance cause it's heavy duty. I'm putting a cam in my 200 4.8. My question is do I need just the chain or the gear set to. Will just the chain fit my gears or are the adjustable like with a master link? Lastly does anyone have the part number I would need? Thanks guy.

I know in the streetbike/dirtbike world you dont mix a new chain with old sprockets or old sprockets with a new chain cause they develop wear charcteristics together.. i would imagine you could swap them seperately and be just fine, but then at the same time your chancing it if you cut a corner.. i personally would buy a complete ls2 timing set and swap the complete set.

Ok so the gears are the same as what's in my 4.8 stock. I just don't wann tear it apart and they are different. I'm deff wanting to do the chain and gears as long as thee like a direct replacement I might as well. Does this look like it will be what I need...

Thank fast brick. For the extra few dollars, that Scoggin dickey looks like a no brainer. Do they have them with the gear set too? I see your name around here alot and really value your opinion and advice? Do you think I should change the gears also. My 4.8 has 86k and I'm going with a 212/218 .523/.529 114 lsa with ls6 springs and I'm undecided if I should keep stock 7.35 push rods or get comp 7.4's. Thanks. Sorry so many ?'s just trying to buy the right stuff.
