Default LS6 cam installed today in 4.8 & electric fans

Well it's in there, with yellow springs and 7.425 pushers. The truck does feel stronger in all areas and sounds different under load also, more throaty I guess you could say. Idle is close, but there is a little difference. I'll post a before and after idle clip tomorrow. I lost 2psi vacume, down to -16psi now. Performance wise I now can just role softly into 1st gear at 1.5k or so and at 3k it slings right to redline spinning hard. Pretty cool stuff.

Also removed the fan and did LT1 fans with Blackbear harness and alternator pulley and replaced both belts. I checked voltage at the battery, it was 14.22. After the pulley swap went up to 14.4.

I will say though, I'm new to the v8 camp, but I almost wish I would have went with something that lobes and gives off that "this chevy is packin" sound, but looks like I'll still be a sleeper... for now. KBracing kit goes on next week. :nunchuk1:

Will be plugging in HPtuners pro for the first time tomorrow, see what it's all about. Good Times!

I loved my LS6 cam in my 4.8L with the 5 speed. Made for lots of good heated street races. When people were shifting I was still revving up

You'll be fine, these engines are pretty solid, especially if it's been well maintained. Many folks have done cam swaps, with more aggressive cams and more miles than you

You will notice gains, but if you have an auto trans you'll want a higher stalled converter for it IMO. You can find a used Comp 212/218 for a decent price in our classifieds pretty regularly...there was a high lift one in there just the other day.

As for the harness, check our sponsors to the right. BlackBear and Nelson both offer them and they're both of nice quality.
