I know some guys run 160-180 stats not sure how many.Aside from what everyone does the pros of lower coolant temps far out weigh the cons.I will say this...I gradually tried bringing coolant temps down to see where the sweet spot was in tuning and ended up disposing of my t-stats all together.Im not sayin thats what you should do but,I believe where your trucks runin is jus plain too hot ecspecially in Arizona. The rings only saving grace is the cylinder walls so with your coolant temp rise only being 3 degrees after wot.Tells me there is not much of a safety factor relieving them of undo stress.

The head looked perfect. Small bit of burn where the plug protrudes from the head but no mechanical damage.

Were you able to keep the same bore size or was it honed out slightly? What all are you going to change after the engine rebuild?

Top ringland is 0.300". It is a Gen 4 valley cover. And I did hone it out quite a bit, so its a 365CI now.

Also changed a spring in the pump for converter holding pressure and had the converter stall brought down again. Making a bunch of aesthetic changes as well to clean it all up.

Possibly another mod coming in the near future

How do you clear the crank pulley with the return right there? It looked too close when I was thinking about using that...
