Default more head/cam questions....

1. well ive finally scored a set of ls6 243 heads and PAC .600 springs. i was under the impression the 243 heads kept the 5.3 compression but im being told other wise..
whats the deal???

2. Im also about 99% sure ive got my 2500 stall converter traded for a 3500 i want a very noticable cam lol and i want it to run as good as it sounds.. truck is a 2000 rcsb 5.3 z71 3.73s has stock 08 z71 18s w/ the tires but itll be on lower profiles as soon as i get the drop spindles/keys and axle flip. i also plan on doing some minor porting polishing to the heads, ive got ls7 lifters, ls2 timing chain, getting pacesetter LTs, and building a 3" y to a modified dual in dual out (will be single 3" in) flowmaster 50 series w/ turndowns. Probably a blackbear tune for now will get HPtuners after i recoop the funds and hopefully a 200 shot to help finish off the trans and diffs lol

so assuming i get the heads milled to keep the stock compression anyone care to point me towards the ideal cam and maybe the place or person to pick one up reallll cheap lol :nunchuk1:

I believe that a .03 mill and .04 gasket will net you 9.9:1

They need to be milled down to keep stock compression. I was told to mill mine .024 to keep stock compression, now I don't need them with my ls1 build.

Another idea may seem kinda crazy... What if i drilled the little "rivets" out of the headgasket and removed the center shim??? I've heard of guys using copperspray and just a shim for head gaskets on gen I sbc's... Could this work for what I need??? Lol I fix everyone else cars back to stock all day, have every cert Gm and Ase can ask for yet I come to forum and ask you guys how to work my own truck lol
