You can push your LQ4 to the 500 hp range at the flywheel. Most people refer to hp now a days to rear wheel hp (rwhp) just due to the availability or dynos. It would require ported or aftermarket heads, a cam in the 220-230 duration range, 10.0-11.5:1 compression, and of course full exhaust and intake to achieve 500 flywheel hp with a stock lq4 bottom end.

If you click my signature picture you'll go to my CD page, read pages 1 and 2, check videos on page 4
I am at the limits of this setup, any more and it'll blow, hell it might blow anyway

GTG= get togethers

Yeah, there isn't much on the street I need fear, not with 4x4 at the push of a button. I will take you up on those car washes, but I wanr ya, I like a clean machine

NHRA regs require a full cage if you run faster than 11.50 .

pics are incredible. Videos wont play, although they will load....its probly just the internet service out here in Iraq

lol..its all good..I used to spend 17 hours washing my truck...before it looked like **** from Lawton's (Ft. Sill) streets and weather...and my mudding trip I took it on at the lake and drove it through some trees...decided the branches were too long so I broke them off with the passenger side of my truck and windows...ugh...was NOT a pretty sight! =(

Thank you TarheelZ and PSM.

I just dont know anything about heads or cams..etc
I'd tried reading up on them but I guess I just need to see it first hand or find an explanation thats not a text book answer. because Im pretty much lost.

tr224 112 cam ... what does *tr224* mean? and what does 112 mean?

just by looking at it...224 is 2x more then 112 ...I feel like a math genius now lol..but what do those numbers mean? and what will they do for me?

also, whats the diff. between longtube headers and shortys? correct me if Im wrong but doesnt that have to do with whether or not your going for low end or high end power?

sorry guys, I know it must be irritating trying to explain simple mechanics to the more ignorant like myself =/

We all have to start somewhere. IF you don't mind reading here is a good thread about camshafts and it explains a lot
https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=327734

As far a headers go long and short refer to the length of the primary tubes. On these ls motors the factory exhaust manifolds flow so well short tubes don't really gain you anything.

Long tubes gain you power everywhere in the rpm range. You have to get your engine tunned for them after installation but they really don't "lose" low end
