Default My 6.0 blew up ....

My 6.0 Blew up ... bad oil pump......'

I need to get my truck up and running asap.....

I have a 4.8L in the backyard that just needs some cleaning...

Can i run my 6.0 heads on the 4.8 to get some more power...

If so what head gaskets do i need 4.8 gaskets or 6.0

I will eventually boost the 4.8 till it blows as i build my 6.0

i would not put the 317 heads on ur 4.8. those motors like higher compression. get u a set of stock 706 heads, or something other than the 317s.

stock 243s will lower the compression.

if u do the 2432s, i wld mill them to 59cc. stock 706s are 61.15cc. not sure what the comp ratio wld be, but u need higher comp for more power on a 4.8

How long did it run with no oil psi? Did it seize, knocking, or what? If it didn't spin the bearings you might be able to fix it fairly easily...

Good point, a lot better option than going with a 4.8 imo!

243s would be your best bet but like said before make sure you mill them or you'll lose compression and that ain't good, dont put 317 off the 6.0 on a 4.8 compression would drop like crazy w/those heads maybe on a forced induction application but not on a NA

the 6.0 was a fresh motor out of a wrecked car had about 20k miles....

one day i decided to put a dual oil filter relocation kit.... It was late and i guess i put the oil lines backwards.....guess what oil filters only flow one way....I drove it around the block and then it started making some noise ....Blew the bearings... so polished the crank all new bearings ported the oil pump and shimmed the valve inside and it was good again but ..... For some reason i always had low oil pressure after that finally 2 years later i was racing on the freeway and i lost all oil press.... blew the bearings again and cracked a main cap .... Pulled the motor and the reason i i lost press was the rear cover was loose somehow and the pickup tube o ring was a old one...

6.0 block seems good but i need a new main cap....machine shop says i need to get all new caps and get it aline bored which costs like 400-600 buxs....

so for now i am forced to put in a 4.8 in a 99 k2500 suburban gvwr 8600 LOL
