Default My Amsoil Experiment

Here's the deal, Amsoil claims 1 year/25,000 mile oil changes when using their oil and Ea Oil Filter combination. So I picked up a case of their 5w-30 oil and 2 EaO09 oil filters for my mom's 1999 Toyota Solara and my wife's 2003 Toyota Matrix XR. My mom usually puts less than 10k on her car a year, while my wife is over 15k a year. I changed the oil on mom's Solara (2.2 4 cyl) on 6/21/08, and took some pics under the valve cover. The wife's car is due for her oil change soon. I will be changing it again next year and pulling the valve cover for a visual inspection and updated pics. I'd love to periodically take an oil sample and send it out for analysis, but honestly I don't have the time and I'm lazy lol, so pics are the best I can do.

Here's what we have now...58,xxx miles, really clean as I've changed the oil every 3k when we were usind dino oil, and every 5 to 7k since switching to Mobil1 a few years ago. It's actually been about a year since her last oil change, which was about 7 to 8k ago.

I'll get some pics of the wife's valvetrain when her oil change is due...

*EDIT* 7-26-08 Did some work on the wife's car today and took some pics...here's the next guinea pig: 2003 Toyota Matrix XR, 1.8 1ZZ-FE, 92,136 miles. This engine was cleaner than I expected...we've had a tendency to stretch her oil changes to 6-7K since switching to Mobil1. I ran conventional oil for the first few years, changing it every 3 to 5K.

Today the engine received 4 fresh quarts of Amsoil 5w-30 and an Amsoil EaO09 oil filter.

With oil analysis it will go that far.very hard to believe but I have done this so many times on family members cars
You will find that Amsoil is top quality oils
I have been an Amsoil dealer since I was 16 years old beause I love there stuff so much cause it works.
I have several oil analysis using amsoil and mobil 1,oil samples takes at the same exact mileage with great results
TBN was always higher with Amsoil when it was virgin and after 10,000 miles os use.there are A lot to look at such as
Flash point
Copper
TBN (total base number)
Silicon
Nickle
Chromium
Much more and the aditives overall numbers
It is fun to do it I think
Every vehicle I have owned has only had amsoil
One thing I will be doin soon is a comparo between
RP and amsoil

I did alot of reading on LS1Tech and other links through google, and Amsoil always came out great, which is why I switched to it in my truck and my family's rides. I feel pretty confident that I'll be happy with the results when I pop the yota valve covers next year

I too would like to see an Amsoil vs RP shootout, that's about the only comparo I couldn't find in my searching...

There are a lot of info on a non-sponsored site. So if you go to Yahoo search and type in Bob is the Oil Guy you'll find the site and a heck of a lot of oil analysis.

I've been happy with the amsoil 5w30 as well. I just had my stock tranny power flushed with Amsoil ATF a few days ago so I'll let you know how I like it. So far so good I have a 144,000 miles so it will be interesting.

Definately a good group of guys over there.

I run Amsoil in the 1990 and Mobil 1 in my wifes car and 2002 truck. However, I'll probably be switching to Amsoil and changing it at 10k miles on the 2002 and wifes car b/c it will be 85-90% highway miles. I know it can go longer but got to have some excuse to crawl under the truck.
