Default my lil carb 5.3

im putting an 00 5.3,with 862 heads,but at first they had 706's had to change them for the 862s cuz exhaust mani's bolt brock off in them,but anyways...its going carb with victor jr intake, but my question is what cam would yall put in it? dont care bout fuel mileage n what knot, whats an good ball park cam n stall...thankx

carb or injection the TR220 seems to be a fav for the 5.3, with bolt on's a stock 5.3 can put down ~350. stall should be atleast a 3000-3200.

What kind of vehicle is this engine going in, and how much does it weigh? For a light weight vehicle, you can go a bit wilder on the cam, and considering that's it carb'd, I wouldn't hesitate to tighten up the LSA to something like a 110. Then match the converter to the cam. If you do decide on the TR220, which, as mentioned, has proven itself awesome in the 5.3, I'd get it on a 112 with a 3000-3200 converter, just my .02

its going in an 91 silverado....i took all the a/c **** out of it cuz i never ran the a/c in it since i bout it 3yrs ago....b4 i even did engine swap i have put bout 10 grand or more in,n now taken it all a part cuz i want an race truck n weekend driver..but the the red n black one in my profile OL'red thats her...but i was talking to the guy at tsp bout the ms3 in a stock 5.3,he said i could use it,if i ran an 3800-4000 stall n 111 lsa..but idk,i was going to go n get them custom me an 224/230 cam n put an 200 shot on it with an 3800 stall or 3600, th350 going behide the 5.3 if wana know..im trying to break my buddies record in a 5.3 he ran 7.4 in a 8th..but we when she all ready to go

yeah i was thinking that or an 109 when i do my custom cam..

This was a fuel injected truck too, not a carb'd truck, so try and break my new recodr, get in the 6's son!

My '68 GMC short/step is running a 6.0 w/L92 heads and a GMPP dual plane LSX/LS3 intake with a 223/231 @ .050 on 112LSA and about a 2200 stall on a 200-4r w/3.73 12 bolt posi. Haven't run it at the track tho but hope to start in the 13's with a target of 12's, and drive it home.

guessing at 3800 race weight? anybody care to guess at 1/8 or 1/4 mi et?
