im running an Ls6 cam with yellow springs and TSP pushrods 7.425. I have 0 issues spinning passed 6k , The pushrods are only like 100 bucks. I would just wait and save a 100 bucks more and do it all. The LS6 base circle is .05 smaller that why you want a psuhrod .025 longer. Alot of guys are still using the stocker though

I don't see any problem with spinning to 6500 with some hardened rods, but I think that if you tried it with the stockers you would be looking at some downtime while you waited for a new set to come in after bending a few of them...I'm a little cautious sometimes though, every time I've gambled I've lost lol.

yeah i guess i will just move my shift point to 4500 for now and save up for it all at once. all this time i thought the turbo was just choking of the exhaust. seems it is valve float. just to be sure though will valve float make any funny noises or just stop pulling?

Hate to be the ***....but heres a thought. If you dont have the money, dont play the game. Wait to make the change then when you have all the ducks in a row. Bending pushrods is not a good thing. It only Hurts you the more you keep doing it. Lifters and rockers could be affected. When the rod bends it takes out shavings from the rod bore and sends it through the motor.

Oh yeah, chromoly 7.4 rods will work with most cams. Just check to make sure you dont have too much preload.

okay I did not want to start another thread so I'll ask a question that will benefit the both of us. Does it matter if you use a 3/8 7.4 pushrod or 5/16 7.4 they will both work with the stock heads right?

I'll post my opinion. If you're going to run LS6 springs the stock pushrods are just fine. As long as you don't way over-rev it you should be fine with them. Any spring stiffer than the LS6 spring you should consider stronger pushrods. The only time I ever see the stock pushrods bend is when they are in manual trans cars that miss a shift or accidently downshift instead of upshift. There may be some exceptions, but it's rare. How many on here have actually bent a pushrod? I'm not sure going from stock to Patriot Golds would be the way to go.That is a very stiff spring and overkill for a stock cam and even still overkill for an LS6 cam. I think you made a good choice in going for the LS6 spring.
