Default needs some help.

alright, i have a set of heads on my truck that have been milled .045. i am planning on getting a radix pretty soon and would like to get back to 9.5 to 1 compression. the thickest cometic head gasket i can get is .074. this gets me to having to get .022 back to get to stock cr. now i have the guy that does my headwork, and he said he can drop the cr by doing some work to where the valves set in the seat and then i should be close to stock then. my question is what pushrod will i need since i will still be about .022 closer to the block than stock. i have 7.35's in it now. should i get 7.40 or stick with the ones i have?

If you do the pushrod length calcs the 7.38s should be close to optimal. He can hog out the combustion chambers to drop your compression he can also cut out the valve seats and sink them in a bit more and blend the combustion chamber in with the new valve seat location all will net a bigger combustion chamber and lower CR.

well i didnt know you could get any size pushrod. but you did do the calc? and thats what it came to? if so would running either of the 7.35 or 7.40 hurt anything. if not ill stick with what ive got.

7.4=stock(actual length I think is 7.39 or 7.41 cant remember off the top of my head) you are .022 closer to the cam with the heads you are using so 7.4-.022=7.378, now if you are going with a different cam you need to take into account the base circle of the cam.

Try the current ones if you get too much tapping go to the 7.4s if they are too long the truck wont run.
