New**looking for advise tahoe 4.8 motor needs more power**
I have an 04 tahoe with a whimp 4.8 motor. Looking for info on what or if any LS1,2,4 etc. parts can interchange over without to much of a hassle. My original plan was a supercharger kit but the horsepower gain per dollar ratio is not good. The only difference in from my 4.8 to a 5.3 looks to be the stroke hp figures are almost identical. The swapping in a 5.3 would be hopleess IMO. My buddy is selling me LS2 heads, manifold with tb fuel rail and injectors. Would this be useful to me? HELP lol

I believe that your truck intake actually produces more power than ls2, read that on a test on web, I don't think types heads would help you much either, I'd say your best bet is a cheatr cam from thunder racing you don't need headers or a stall and the cam plus springs and rods can be had for around 600 I have ls2 cheatr cam in 6.0 and pushing around 340 horse to wheels in a lifted 4x4 I was happy with improvement. you have a 6.0 i have a 4.8....i don't think i will see the same benefits from a cam...I wish i made more power than an LS2. My truck is rated at 295 BHP, minus drive train loss i would say 245 on a chasis dyno. My buddy works at a junkyard and i pretty much can get any LS type stuff cheap. I will look into a thunder cam. Would i benefit from port work? I'm actually looking to get close to 400 whp on pump gas i don't know if its possible.

I dont think those parts would really benefit you but you mught wanna try a tune, cai, headers and gears, then if you want more which most likely you will you could do a stall and cam.

400 is possible, I know Vengance did a 4.8 with trickflow heads not sure what cam on a 2wd reg cab and is in the upper 12 second quarter. If your willing to spend a bit of money I'd do a stall (if you don't tow). Maybe 3600 cheap set of long tubes and a set of good heads I'd stay in the 205 intake runner size

I like it but I have been wanting to change it just to try something different or maybe just get a bigger stall Im always changing my mind lol.looks like your truck runs pretty good too.
