New**looking for advise tahoe 4.8 motor needs more power**
#11
is a stall recommended for a daily driver? Im not hitting the drag strip or anything, i just want to have the power. In case some ford powerstroke comes along lol or a range rover. My budget is 3 grand. Parts, machining, porting, balance and blueprinting i can get at a huge discount. I just need a recipe of some sort or and idea of what it takes. I have a 5.3 crank laying around would that be worth dropping in. I can get rods and forged pistons at the fraction of retail cost. Should i look into that. Should i punch out the bore? thats the info i need. I already know that i need a good cam, headers, CAI and a true computer tune.

I have an 04 tahoe with a whimp 4.8 motor. Looking for info on what or if any LS1,2,4 etc. parts can interchange over without to much of a hassle. My original plan was a supercharger kit but the horsepower gain per dollar ratio is not good. The only difference in from my 4.8 to a 5.3 looks to be the stroke hp figures are almost identical. The swapping in a 5.3 would be hopleess IMO. My buddy is selling me LS2 heads, manifold with tb fuel rail and injectors. Would this be useful to me? HELP lol
intake=300
u/dpulley=250
elect. fans=500 buy some used ones for cheaper
custom tune=500 you can find cheaper!!
long tube=1000 find some used for cheaper
cam,springs,push rods=700
muffler and work=250
that should get you the extra hp you need.
Good luck.

Well i think everyone will tell you if your gonna do a cam you gotta do a stall unless you go with a small cam and you can port and polish your heads maybe mill them,and you could bore out the 4.8,I dont know if its the same as the 5.3 block but if it is Im pretty sure you could bore it out to a 5.7. but if your gonna do all that you might wanna look into a 6.0 swap.

I have a 3400ish stall in my truck and it didn't keen that it's not going to move untill 3400rpm it's just not going to grab completly untill then. My truck is very streetable still u do loose a mpg or 2, and don't plan on towing with a big stall when I redo mine I'm going to put in a 3700 I think. Also if you do a stall your going to want a nice trans cooler. You will probinly drop .6 seconds or more by adding a stall

So i have been on here for the past few days reading through all the threads. and yes i searched. So Here what i decided. I know i need long tube headers, CAI, exhaust, cams and all that other stuff. So my new question is what cylinder heads and manifold combo and a good cam will yield me the highest hp gains. Daily driver on 91 ocatne at all times. And im not going to be adding a stall anytime soon. Everytime i read a cam thread on here the stall issue comes up. So for the mean time no stall......

I just got threw swapping some PRC stage 2.5 5.3 milled to 58cc on my 4.8 and it made pretty good improvement! roll into the throttle in 2nd and it pulls pretty damn good! they also made my torque converter ALOT looser... I also have all the boltons, plus a decent size cam...

highroller 02...coold you share some insight on what CAI and headers did you use? Also how is the stall working for you. I might consider it. I put 50 miles on my truck everyday. Would you recommend the stall for daily use?
