Default New guy needs some input

Hey guys, new to this site i need some cam help and i know its been beaten to death but i want to make sure i get this right and understand it all. I am looking at texas speed 220R camshaft package with 112lsa, pac 1218 single springs, and 7.4" pushrods. I need to know if this is a good set up for me. This is my dd and i go to the track every now and then. i have a 2008 silverado crew cab 5.3l flex fuel with 3.73 gears, blackbear tune, corvette servo, and cat back exhaust with 33 inch tires. I am not going to do a converter right now or headers but i will down the road. How is this cam set up going to act with out the converter and headers. Whats the hp/tq can i expect? Do i need the d.o.d. delete kit? and what gaskets and all that jazz do i need to buy. I went to school for motorcycles so this truck stuff is a little different. Any input or better suggestions are welcome.

Yes you need the dod delete kit. With you using the stock manifolds you won't get the full potential out of the cam, especially with a single pattern cam. Now, there are split pattern cams that work well with the stock manifolds though. I suggest you talk to Texas Speed, Thunder Racing or EPS about cam recommendations.

If you get LT headers later on then yes the tsp220 is a good cam to have. A 278mm cheap 3000-3200 converter would be a good match for that cam later on. Yes you can run the tsp220 cam if you wanted without a converter until you can save up for an aftermarket one. You won't lose a whole lot of bottom end with the tsp220 and stock converter, but yes it will have some dead spots.

A 212/218 would be another good choice for your heavier CC truck though, and it works very well with the stock converter. A 216/220 would be another good choice. Nothing wrong with the tsp220, it will just be much better with some type of aftermarket converter though.

ok so before i order i am getting the tsp 220r cam package with the dod delete kit with ls7 lifters it gives me the option for 8 or 16 lifters for 80 bucks more. And the 7.4" pushrods are the right size for the ls7 lifters correct?
