Default new LS/R lobes...

i have been looking to put a cam in my dd silverado and ran across these new LS/R lobes and new grinds from thunder racing. lets just say i have all the bolt on's on my truck with a 3200 stall. which cam would take the trophy down the track and which cam would be better for the street and torque wise.

TR220 220/220 .551/.551 112 xer lobe?

215/223 .604/.610 112lsa LS/R lobes

219/ 227 .607 / .614 112lsa LS/R lobes

im wondering which will work better with a little bit of dope lets say 100-150 shot?

i know there isnt many people running those new grind cams but maybe a few members on here with cam knowledge can give an educated guess on the questions i have. im leaning more towards the 215/223 since the last cam seems alittle big for a 5.3?

the cam that your leaning towards is the one i want to put in my truck also the lsr 215/223 seems like a nice cam for a 4.8/5.3 imo

+1 sounds like an interesting cam. The LSR lobes are Comp's latest and greatest correct? I see that they all have high lift numbers...seems like all of the LSR cams are pretty exhaust biased, (as are the thumpr cams IIRC)

Any info on why the LSR cams are so exhaust biased?

i aint too hip with all the tech precise terms but...i have always understood a good flowing head is not only measured by its flow numbers but that the exhaust should flow at least 70 percent of the intake flow. that being said, the l92 heads flow great on intake but not so good on exhaust. with added duration/lift on the exhaust side, it helps the head perform better. dont ask me how as i dont know...lol...but it is suppose to. the l92 heads tend to be the latest oem peformance heads and while these cams are for use with any high flowing heads, they are more aimed at the l92 heads. hope this helps a lil and someone who is more knowledgeable can add their 2 cents so we can have 4 cents...good luck to all with their projects...

These cams arent new, there at least two years old now and just about everyone runs them on their cams with goofy names. There are also LSK lobes, that arent in Comp's catalog, but you can get 215/223 with .640ish lift if you use thier LSK lobes. They are jsut much harder on parts than the LSR cams are.

Im running the LSR(LS3 version) 219/235 .607/.621 113+5 on 6.0L and I love it, I even run it on 26918 beehives. THe cathedral port version of theat cam is the 219/227 your talking about. I have CNC LS3 heads, LSR cam, FAST LSXR 102mm intake, headers, mandrel bent exhuast, etc, etc. So I went slightly bigger, and with the LS3 version and thats why my exhaust duration is split so far.

I havent head a single bad thing aobut these cams. Everyone has reported great results form what I have read. Its about selecting the right cam for your combination at this point.

I almost installed the 215/223 myself before I went to an LS3/L92 style head.

Ive tested the 219/227 and it made 520fwhp on a 6.0L LQ4 with H/C/I/E

I think the 215/223 would be increadibly fun in a 5.3L

but will that little 215/223 be a 12 sec cam like the tr220? several people have been in the 12's with the tr220. i do have some cnc ported heads that are milled to about 56-59cc's that i am thinking of putting on.

I kinda had a feeling that these were more geared towards L92 heads...the way of the future I suppose
