New Style Rear Main Seal Install?
Who here has done it? How did you do it? Most importantly, does it leak?
I searched over on tech and I got some really mixed results. Some people say the new style just pushes in the cover by hand. Some say they used a wood block and some say they used the $300 install tool. Some people's leak and other's don't.

i use the plastic thing it cam with to hold it open and centered then i just pushed and tapped it in. do not lube the inner side of the seal it will leak(as per the gm manuals). i did just that and never got a leak and i installed mine with about a 6" gap between eng and trany while still in the truck.
this is what the book says and below is why.
DO NOT get any oil or other lubrication on the inside diameter of the seal or the out side of the crankshaft. DO lube the outside of the seal and inside of the rear cover.
