We ran some cheap oil through to flush it out. Only a couple of good warm ups really and my builder told me to use a good quality 10W30. It is a lot colder here than California so I am using Castrol GTX 5W30.

First,as said you ask the builder. We personally run Valvoline 10w/40 to break in the motor. We run it for about 15 minutes, change it,then run it again for about 1k miles. That is for a street motor.

What Slowhawk said, only to add, I prefer a conventional non-detergent oil in a weight based on the bearing clearences for the initial startup and ring seating. Afterwards use whatever type you want based on the bearing clearences.
