Default Oil pick-up tube girdle

Refresh my memory as to why this doesn't work with the truck pick-up tubes?

I wonder why BRP Hot Rods says in their description that it "does not work with truck pickup tube." ???
Hmmm...

Hmmm...
Maybe it won't clear the front of the oil pan? I dunno I bought one years ago and have yet to use it...I don't remember reading that it was no good for trucks at the time. Might be worth a call to BRP

They're a sponsor on ls1tech.
I had pm'd them to see if they still sold them.
After they replied to say yes is when I saw that noted in their description.
I sent them a link to this thread so I'm sure someone will chime in eventually.

Received a reply from BRP in regards to this via e-bay:
Well, several years back we had some customers send in some pictures showing why it didn't work for them on their truck pickup tubes. GM used a large tack weld to hold their mounting tab onto the tube while the car type tubes did not have this tack weld. The location of it was in the way of the girdle and it wouldn't fit flush on the tube. This interfered with the girdle to the point you couldn't use it. Now maybe not all truck year tubes are like this, I don't know... but we didn't want to sell to someone that couldn't use it. That's why we say it wont work. If your pickup tube does not use any tack welds to hold on the factory mounting tab, then our girdle will work fine for you.
Guess I'll go look!

Very cool...I wouldn't mind seeing some pics of different year pickup tubes to see if there's a change along the line. Since my truck is a 99, I'll almost guarantee that I have the tack weld

Mine is a '00...so I'm thinking the very same thing.

I looked at mine and it has, for a lack of a better description, a "T"...spot welded in 3 places on one side of the tube @ the mounting flange...it's definitely in the way of this "girdle".
