Is there not a way to make it fit? Maybe a little grinding and more tacking?

Personally I would not risk grinding the welds. This girdle is a good choice if your rebuilding your motor and want a piece of mind that the tube seated right. If that's the case then just get a used later tube just make sure to get the right color tube gasket.

If it fit w/o any issues, I was going to get it just for extra insurance.
It won't, so I'm not.
I figure it's okay since I haven't had any issues with it for 283k miles.
( knocking on wood )
