Default oil pressure problem - update

Well, I thought of trying something out today. Hooked up my laptop, cranked the engine, drove around the block until the oil temp went up to 140F, then I floored it and recorded a peak oil pressure reading of 60PSI.

10minutes later, oil temps reached above 196F, I repeated and did not see more than 50PSI this time.

That taking into consideration the car will get to and beyond 200F in this weather especially since it has no oil cooler YET.

Im waiting to hear from SLP on the recommended oil viscosity for this engine, ill use that and with an oil cooler I think I might be good but thats just a guess.

What do you guys think?

I think 50 psi is more then enough to satisfy your engines thirst, I'm proud to have 40 on anything

I spin the motor to 6300rpms and im not sure if thats enough at that RPM I would love to think it is, and I guess ill get to the bottom of this one way or the other.

That is a plenty of psi at that given rpm in my opinion, remember, psi is a measure of restriction, not flow, so if you have 50psi of good flowing oil, then you will be fine. Too much oil pressure can be a pain in the *** too....

Thanks for the reply. I actually heard back from SLP, they built the engine and recommended I use 15w-50 oil on this truck and also install an oil cooler. If I do both I am sure I will see 60ish PSI, which should be perfect
