Default Ok guys, serious tech question

Ok boys here she goes, most of you know i have been runnin a pretty stout 6.0 with a carb for a few months, well i got ahold to some bad race fuel this weekend and spit a piston out and it fubared my block in the cylinder, which was good ole #8. My options are now, put my stock 5.3 back together with 4.8 flat tops and my 243's and cam and run it like hell but i wanted to know about the 6.0 crank and 4.8 pistons and rods? I know there is a way to utilize the combo to make a stroker but i cant remember the combo, is it a 6.0 block with different rods and the 6.0 crank? or is it the 4.8 crank with 6.0 rods and pistons? If anyone has some enlightenment here please share, i know some will say its a failure but i also know that some of you hardcore guys know what i'm getting at. just would like to try something a little off the wall since i have a stockpile of parts laying around to tinker with, and now a really pretty 6.0 coffee table lol!

The 5.3 and 6.0 share the same stroke. (3.622'') I would put the 5.3 back together if you already have all of the parts.

You lookin' for me? I just found your thread for the first time now...

As far as I can remember, the only way to stroke a 5.3 is to buy an aftermarket kit, which would probably cost more than a decent used 6.0. You'd have to bore the 3.78 cylinder of the 5.3 to 3.902 (provided that the 5.3 block sonic tests OK), get a 4.00" crank, and 6.2 rods, just like the 5.3 and 6.0 already use. When you're done, you'll have a 383, which does have a cool factor though, considering that guys have been stroking small block Chevys to that same CID for years. If you really want to reuse the 5.3 block, and as I mentioned before, it sonic checks OK, I'm going to assume that it would probably be cheaper to bore it out to 3.902 and build yourself an "Iron LS1".

*EDIT* For poops and giggles, you could give Callies a call and see what they have to offer...I know that they offer 4.0" cranks in their "Dragonslayer" and "Magnum" lines

Maybe you are thinking of the 6.0 block with the 4.8 crank? Would be a short stroke big bore higher rpm combo, but you would need custom pistons. How bad is the block? Maybe get it sleeved, but for the price, you should be able to find a decent 6.0 stock shortblock around.

6.0 block and pistons 4.8 crank and rods. would be a high winding 32xc.i.

I would just do the 5.3
