This is recommended on ls1tech by the sponsor and several members. This is a quote from epp's website:

This camshaft is used in many of our project cars, and has a great sound, plus it makes a lot of power.

Cam specs are:

Dur @ .050 232 int 240 exh

Lift .595 int .608 exh

Lobe Sep 115.0

To hear what this camshaft sounds like, go to the project car section of our website, and go to the Camaro SS with the STS Turbo. There are video clips of it idling on there. This camshaft works very well with ATI ProChargers, and we use it on quite a few of our builds.
Comp 918 valvesprings are recommended with this camshaft. Stock valvesprings will not work!!!

Is this duration & lift crazy for our trucks?

I have talked with Bob from EPP before and he is very helpful and sharing with his knowledge. I think I will call him...

without rereading the entire post i am going to say that is a prety big cam. i had a slightly smaller cam than that on my 6.0 and 408, on the 6.0 it was prety lumpy and lacked low end. NA that cam hit about 4200rpm on the 6.0. for that cam to work well with a 5.3 you would need a stall in the 4500rpm range. if your building an all out drag truck and go with that high of a stall then yeah it would be a great cam.

that lift isn't all that excisive but i think i would try and keep it under .600

I dont know much about cams. I do beleive though in not trying to make somthing other than what it is. A procharger will not make a ton of low end and trying to make it shine down low is just going to hurt the end result.
I am currently running a 216/218 FMS cam(origninally for the Whipple)
Allan said it is too small and my next step should be a cam change. I will be going with his recommendation and it will most likely be somthing in the 220-224 range(not sure on lift) Maybe the 5.3 would like somthing a little smaller though?

For a turbo, reverse splits are awesome. For an SC, you need the exhaust bias so your standard dual pattern cam is preferred. The lsa is specific to try to get as close to 0* overlap as you can. See my rule of thumb in one of the first couple of posts.

Some general info on LSA and cam timing:

.........................Varying Lobe Separation Angle.....................................
...............Tighten............................ ..............Widen
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Moves Torque to Lower RPM..............Raise Torque to Higher RPM
Increases Maximum Torque................Reduces Maximum Torque
Narrow Powerband...........................Broadens Power Band

Increase Cranking Compression...........Decrease Cranking Compression
Increase Efective Compression...........Decrease Efective Compression
Idle Vacuum is Reduced....................Idle Vacuum is Increased
Idle Quality Suffers..........................Idle Quality Improves
Open Valve-Overlap Increases...........Open Valve-Overlap Decreases
Closed Valve-Overlap Increases.........Closed Valve-Overlap Decreases
Natural EGR Efect Increases..............Natural EGR Efect is Reduced
Decreases Piston-to-Valve Clerance....Increases Piston-to-Valve Clerance

Aharrold: If it where my truck, given your mods and a 3200 stall in the converter, I'd put in a VHP 062 or 066 if I didn't want to wait on a custom grind, but then again I do my own tuning and tune for those two cams.

062 -- "ASP-KICKER "
DUR @ .004" 272*/280*
DUR @ .050" 210*/218*
LIFT .551 / .551
OVERLAP 52*
LSA 112*

STREET / STRIP CAM - HIGH LIFT
POWER RANGE 1900 TO 6000
TUNING & STALL CONVERTER REQUIRED
CRISP THROTTLE RESPONSE - LOADS OF "TORQUE"
CHOPPY IDLE

066 -- "STANGBANGER"
DUR @ .004" 282* / 286*
DUR @ .050" 220*/ 224*
LIFT .551/.551
OVERLAP 57*
LSA 114*

STREET / STRIP / BUTT KICKING
POWER RANGE 2400 TO 6500
TUNING & STALL CONVERTER REQUIRED
POWERFUL CHOPPY IDLE

IMO the epp cam you listed above is too big for what you're trying to do. It would be a monster tune and wouldn't have good street manners (it's bigger than my current cam...).

If I was going to do a custom cam, I'd run something like a 212/224 on a 115-6 lsa. For stock heads, I'd stay around 55x lift and run Z06 springs as you've mentioned.

That is too much cam for a 5.3L. You could run that on one you race, but a stock shortblock truck doesn't like that many rpm very long.
