Question P2173 high air flow

Just got tune done for cam & heads. Without any forewarning running 65 - 75 the drive by wire symbol will flash & engine just shuts down like the key was turned off. Restarts with no problems, runs good and gets me another 15 miles home. Stores p-code 2173. I'm guesssing maybe something needs changed in the tune for the MoPar air speed density sytem? Anybody got any ideas?

I have no idea really but in a chev we get P1514 MAP/MAF Throttle Position Correlation that relates to the DBW (electronic) Throttle. We have to increase the values in {C6101} ETC Predicted Airflow to keep it from happening. So I am guessing you will have to tell your tune to expect more airflow at given throttle openings and RPM. This table protects against a throttle being stuck wide open. I found I had a problem when I put in new injectors and was running way rich at WOT and it caused P1514. I fixed it by leaning out the Boost VE table.

Thanks! That sounds exactly like the trouble I'm having with my Ram. The problem I have is my CMR Diablo tuner cannot find the correct table to modify in the MoPar software that he has access to. It will also rev out of control if you shift in to neutral at just about any speed above 10/15 mph and will act like cruise control is on in 2nd & 3rd gear city driving. I'm finding out these NGC pcm's in 04 Ram trucks are not very "tuner" friendly!

Sounds like Diablo needs to do some more ground work.

There are a couple of Hemi guys on here with FI and if they see this maybe they will help shed some more light for you. Might not find them in the internal engine section. Try Dodge Tuning or maybe the Forced Induction sections.

Try a search on hemidup and maybe send him a PM for a place to start.

Good luck! Tuning seems to be a problem for the Hemi. Read about the guys on trans #13....
