Nope, it wont build pressure just by cranking. Fill the oil filter and crank it up!

If it takes more than a few seconds just after you start it to build oil pressure, then yes shut it off. But you won't be able to build pressure just turning it over. It's a good idea to do that though because it moves oil into the lifters and whatnot.

So im at home, got everything hooked up, started it a couple of times for about 30 seconds, and still nothing. I can see the oil slowly making its way up to the mechanical guage, but real slow. And the engine was smoking just a little. But I do have the covers loose. Some guys on tech where saying it took them a coupke of mins to get it all the way up? Wtf

So after a few times of starting it, I got about 20 psi. When I bump the throttle the oil guage in the truck goes back and forth.

I have the mech guage hooked up on the cross over above the filter and its not reading pressure. But the cluster is reading 20. Oil is slowly making its way to the lifters I see. Do I keep bumping until it gets all the way built up?

i think we found the problem guys. after cranking the truck and it only making 20 psi on the oil guage i said **** it and pulled the front cover back off to find this.Name: frontgalleyplug.jpg

now this is my first swap so i had no idea to check this when i had it off the first time. but after not getting full pressure i was thinking it was the pump until i found this. is this called a welch plug? any body have a part number for the 06 lq9? and do they just push in or how do i install it?

and i also took a pic of the two different orings so you guys can see the difference.

i do not advise anybody to go to Pavlock performance if they want an engine overhauled. wrong oring, maybe let that pass, wrong oring and no galley plug= wtf
