I wonder about 5.3 block bored to 346 cui. Like I know the machine shop usually bored 0.30, 0.40, 0.60 But our blocks are a little different than old time school model from others. If I ask person to bored. Just say 3.898 correct? And get piston same size 3.898 to make 346 correct? Let me know please.

Each piston will require a different piston to wall clearance. The machine shop would need to know the size of the pistons. It is best they have them in their hands and the piston manufacture recommendation. Wouldn't hurt to know what you are planing to do with it. If you read a few post up, you will find that if you plan of boost or n2o, bigger may be better....

You may get more/ better reply by making you own thread.

I thought about getting a 4.8/5.3 block... only problem is my block is decked, bored, cleaned... all that BS, I almost have $1000 into the machine work on this thing... I hate to throw it aside and start over

beastmode - man you will be fine dont worry about it. i doubt it'll rattle any, but it will use some oil which still isnt going to hurt anything except for tuning maybe

go5.3tt06 - the 4.8/5.3 block will bore to a stock LS1 bore without any problems and support lots of HP

I need some a little clear. How can I tell machine shop I want bored from my 5.3 iron block to 5.7 which make 346 cubic. Piston would be 3.898 How can I tell them a size to bore? Like .119 If I mistake? Tell me a number right so I easy to tell the guy about size to bore to see how much it will cost me.
