I have always been told Mahle is the lower end pistons due to alloy used. CP are super nice, but at 899 a set I will pass. my builder said diamond were not as nice as manley or JE. BUT....last night I found a set of JE pistons from a vendor online, and haggled him down to $610 shipped for a set of 3.905 bore 15* -2cc, 3.622, 6.125 rod pistons. I need a set of manley rods, and $1100 for machine work, including line bore, oil clearances ect., balance & blue print, and building it. gonna be fun. little over 11:1 and 100-200 shot till I can find a turbo setup I like with diff heads.

Mahle is probably more closely oriented to an OEM style setup (quieter as opposed to forged startup noise), tho I never heard what you're sayin, but I'd need to know the material slugs are made outta. Just a thought.

I didn't know CP's were that high. Well actually, I thought they were $700-800. For some reason, $899, seriously let's just call it $900, cause that dollar is just a marketing thing to make it not hit the next increment, is a lot of dough for some slugs. So, that eliminates them for ya. From what remains, JE or Diamond. $610 is a good price.
I don't even need to know which ones to know that.

Eric, PM sent.

wasnt sure on the price of CP, but I know they were high. I think I will be happy with the JE sluggs. like most pistons, they dont come with rings, but not a bad thing seeing I want to run alkery and childs rings.

I think u will be happy w/. the JE's. I've only heard 1 bad thing ever besides price, & it was on PT. Cody had issues w/. JE. I wouldn't think he buy them again. FWIW, u can get Mahle slugs by themselves or w/. rings too. Just an FYI.

Thanks for PM, but I'm not ready. Not yet.

I was wondering when Wiseco was going to be thrown out there! That'd be my vote! You get the strong 2618 forging, crazy thick top ringlands, steel top/napier 2nd ring set by default, coated skirts, and more! They are very nice pistons and require very little, if any, deburring before or during assembly (quite a few others mentioned in this thread do require more work)!

I forgot bout Wiseco, but didn't know they req. so little deburring. That said, the ones I saw on that link were $1K+ for the set, w/. rings, pin, & coating.

Even the pistons themselves were pricey.
He didn't wanna spend $900 for the CP's, so the W's blow the budget. Perhaps less thru you tho, Matt.

yes, I left them out for this, knowing they were a fav of mine too. But my engine builder said I cant go wrong with any, he ranked them JE, manley, Wiseco, Diamond, and mahle best to least best. I think the wiseco and manley are about the same except no rings on manley, but JE were avalible for a great price, so I bought them. I would run any of these except mahle. CP inc.

I hope I can find a deal on manley or callies rods too.....
