Pistons: Forged or not
I'm building an iron block ls1 using a stock ls1 rotating assembly and a 5.3 block bored to accept standard size ls1 pistons. It's getting a set of 243s decked .015 and probably a good EPS cam.I will occasionally be spraying a 150hp shot of nitrous through it but not very often because my truck is only a street machine. It only see's the track once maybe twice a year. So here's my delima, I'm trying to decide if I should do the forged Mahle pistons which are gonna set me back about $650 or just go with some stock ls1 pistons which can be had for virtually nothing. I know the forged pistons are gonna handle the abuse from the n2o alot better but then again there's plenty of you guys runnin around with 200hp shot on stock pistons. With that being said, any thoughts or suggestions? Keep budget in mind also..

I'm running autotec 4032 forged pistons, they are very reasonably priced, outstanding quality. Pm me if you are interested. Btw, I think you would be a little more comfortable knowing you have a little more cushion rather than pushing the stock stuff wondering how far is too far.

Screw a lq9, a 6.0 around these parts is hard to come by and high as giraffe pu$$y. If a built motor isn't lasting more than a few thousand miles then someone needs to quit bulding them IMO. I can build this motor for for just a hair over a grand.
