PRC stage 2.5 5.3 heads or PRC stage 2.5 LS6 heads

Remember the compression difference between the two is very small! We CNC port the 5.3L heads' chambers and they are about 63cc before any milling. The LS6 heads do not get a CNC chamber, and start right about 64cc. The major advantage of the LS6 is better port design and layout. Everything else equal, the LS6's will make better power!

Thanks for the feedback. How much power in general if I was to go with the LS6 heads along with a cam swap.....say that the truck is running low 13s (13.2) in 1/4 mile, what do you think would be the new track times with these heads & cam swap? Just trying to get ideas.

Depending on the short-block and bolt-ons, you can expect between 40 and 55hp from the LS6 heads over stock...some more than other, again, depending on what head was there before. Obviously the combo swapping over from the 317 truck heads will gain a bit more due to the compression bump AND porting gains, whereas the guys running a stock 5.3L or 241 head will not see as big of gains because the compression change isn't as significant.
I plan on doing a cam swap and maybe doing the head swap as well (still debating) but I'm curious to see what power gains can be accomplished and what new track times I would expect with this combo.
