You have to use the LS2 rods with the LQ9/LS2 Pistons because they use a floating pin unlike the LS1/LQ4 Rods that had a pressed pin. Yes a floating pin set up is better

I was about to order those pistons from Rockauto, but my machinist got them for a few bucks cheaper. PM me if you want his info. LS2 rods are stronger than LQ4s. Make sure you have your crank balanced for the additional weight.

You mean the lifter retainer cap things? I re-used the stockers. lol, wouldn't that be ironic if that was what I thought the original piston slap was???

I mean the plastic trays that hold the lifters from turning side ways when installed in the block... No piston slap is pretty distinct sound... almost like bad bearings...

I did not replace those.

If I use a heavier spring, wouldn't the problem would be worse? The spring is opening by itself now.

Spring is opening by it self??? are you refering to the lifters and not the Valve springs...

The lifter is falling and the spring is opening.

when you say the spring is opening you mean it gets bigger because the liffter is bleeding down taking the load off of it. that would in affect be the valve closeing up as a result...
