How does this sound?

Finally found some cast LQ9 pistons, but was told they will not work on an '01 LQ4. Is that due to the connecting rods? If so, how about this?

LQ9 connecting rods
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GM-LS...#ht_500wt_1085

Then the LQ9 pistons, pins and rings from a 2003 Escalade LQ9?

Pistons
SEALED POWER Part # H1129CT {Cast Piston}
Hypereutectic; 2 - 1.50mm Groove, 1 - 3.00mm Groove, 1.325 CD, Flat Head; DurOshield® skirt coated piston; Thermoshield coating on head and in top compression groove, 23.962mm Pin Dia.

Will that work with my stock crank?

Am I missing anything else?

Your link is not working right now...

I don't see why the Lq9 pistons would not work in an 01 motor unless it uses a different rod.

Besides you are going to need to bore the block at least .50MM (.020)over to eliminate piston slap issue's

So those pistons we found are in deed a flat top piston???

Found the LQ9/LS2 OEM piston. Sealed Power H1129CT and comes with the pins. They come in stock 4.0, +.50mm and +.75mm. Same part number for an '03 Escalade (vin N), C6 Vette and 1500 SS (vin N).

Got the LS2 connecting rods above. Oh crap, forgot the rod bolts.... Good thing I have my cc # memorized!

All the parts are either here or on the way. Yanking motor tomorrow in our lovely single digit temp. Wonder how many propane heaters I can put in my garage...

I called the dealership on behalf of clemsondave asking that same question. They told me the same thing at first "Have to have the VIN bla bla bla" but I got him to look up the pistons anyway through a back door route we found. The pistons are .5mm overbore, and are $173/piece if memory serves. I called them last week to ask, but clemsondave knows that from the PM's I sent him.

What I proposed clemsondave could do is sell the 317's, find a cheap set of 241's, and go with the dished OEM LQ4 pistons. The smaller chambers of the 241's would sit him at the same compression ratio as an LQ9 piston with the 317's but the 241's would make for a better tow-truck combo, I think, at least.
