Recipie for a new engine build???
Just put a stock LQ9 in my 01 C3, using my existing ported heads and a thicker head gasket to drop the cr a half point. I'll drive this setup with my turbo for awhile. I have meth injection also, but will still not run over 8 lbs of boost at the track.
I still have the LQ4 block from the previous engine and have toyed with the idea of keeping an eye open for a L92 engine with the 6 speed trans and electronics, or using the LQ4 to build up a forged engine with lower compression to get the truck into the mid 11's (yeah I know-better trans then the current built 4L65e).
I'm interested in info from some folks who have actual experience with a build along these lines. 402 stroker? 9.0 cr with forged parts and maybe some afr heads?
My last built engine had too little cr (8.0) and sloppy rings, had forged pistons and a little hear work, but otherwise stock but still put the truck into the low 12's, (with 18 lbs of boost) although the mpg went south rather badly. I'd like to have a mid 11's truck with the boost turned up, but a good daily driver with decent mpg and 600 hp running just 6 lbs of boost for everyday driving, and 850-900 hp @ the crank maxed out @ 15 lbs of boost. thx!
