Safe RPM before float

Yup. Peak HP on the 6.0 is like 5600-5800 tops. So shifting at 6500 with stock cam/springs is definitely a waste and only a matter of time before you drop a valve. They've gotta be floating at those RPM's considering they aren't made for it.
When my 5.3 was stock I had the shift points at 6k. no reason to go over without a cam and springs. IMO

I shift mine at 6100 right now... when i put the cam/springs/rods in ill be shifting at 6600 or 6700 depending on how it pulls.
Like TXsilverado said it all depends on the set-up.

honestly, the heads didn't gain me any SOTP. But I did just find out recently that I had a bad MAF and also likely a leaking intake manifold! Look at it this way....on the stock tune wheatley sent me I can get a max of 17-19 degrees timing at wot with 6-7 degrees of KR (it commands 22-24) ....so just imagine what it was doing with wheatley's hot tune commanding 28 or 29 degrees. So basically I never saw the full potential of the setup. That probably explains the lowish numbers I saw on the dyno too.

For real, no one else has? I went 14.16 on a mail order tune, full exhaust, factory 20s with half worn Goodyears (traction problems), 30% TM still enabled (zero tranny Mods), full weight plus bedrug, probably 100 extra pounds in the cab, 3/4 tank of gas, not to mention I weigh 250. DA was 1257. Shifting at 5800. I'm amazed no one else has dropped some weight and busted 13s.
