Default Should a lifter do this?

I have had a very bad valve train noise at start up and then it goes away after 3-5 seconds, but even then I get some pretty heavy valve train noise. I took the heads off and one of the lifters did not comeout with the tray, as I went to take it out it was stuck in the lifter bore, I had to use pliers to pull it out. Could that thing have been stuck in there and only when it finally pumps up it will move? What do you guys think?

It should NOT be that hard to take out. You should be able to pull them out with a pen magnet if anymore force is required then something is up.

Ok then I was kinda thinking that, Trying to think as to what would cause that thing to get stuck like that? I wonder if I should clean up the bore put in some new stock lifters and call it good. I really don't want to take the oil pan down to check that damn o-ring?

If I was that far into it I would check the o-ring.

Scoggin Dickey has them www.sdpc2000.com

You should be fine with the same pushrods. The stock LS7 lifters require the same preload as the LS1 lifters.
