I dont have a pic of under the valve cover but it looked like this under the valve cover and the rest of the motor!

Who's to say you really got a low mile engine? They have nice steam cleaner machines nowadays and you can make just about anything look new. Is this by chance an engine that was involved with or near a flood? Perhaps they drained the water out and what you're seeing is the sticky icky residue.

Mine looks pretty close to yours under the valve cover....that stuff is real gooey....you may wanna atleast pull the pan to look things over....

Well we will pull some stuff, just not alot. We are doing the cam swap this weekend, so i guess we'll see more then. They actually said "less than 5k," and a 2007. Maybe they never changed the oil. i hope.

HMM my motor has 60k and i run mobil 1. My valve covers looked no where close to that. They were very clean. No sludge whatsoever...

even if they never changed the oil, 5k miles won't look like that. its a whole lot easier to pull it apart now and have a look, than to have to pull it back out the truck.

was it 5k miles all done in 1/4 mile increments? that looks horrible for those miles.
