Wow! thats nasty. This is what mine look like after 113,000 miles. But at least you don't have a broken valve spring lol

I'm not exaggerating when I say this. If they took used motor oil out of the oil drain tank at jiffy lube when the truck was new, then put it in the motor, 20K miles later it wouldn't look that sludgy. Something wrong is going on. That pan needs to come off to see if it matches what's going on up top. You should also read my thread about checking the date code on the block. It'll then tell you if it's an '07 block or not. The heads will also have a date code cast into them that should tell you when they were manufactured. Heads are typically made within a month of the engine. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=415201

Something is definitely not right. It does kind of look like it was full of water mixed with oil. There is no way that has less than 5k miles unless that thing was seriously abused.I would get a closer look inside that thing.

Wow, I pulled mine at 150k last week. There was zero sludge and no carbon build up. Motor looked mint. Always had mobil1 run through it since day 1.

HOLY ****

that motor needs to be inspected better

I have pulled apart old diesel motors with 1 million miles and they look better than that

Oh man, I'm sorry to say it, but there's no way that engine only has 5k on it. Even if it was overheated to the max, in which case there'd be other problems such as warped heads.
