Default Strange Sounds?

Hey guys i installed a cam and 4.10 gears on my avalanche but still haven't got the chance to tune it...while i was driving home i noticed a whining and ticking sound when i let off the gas at 60 mph? Anyone have any idea if this is normal?

What brand of gears did you use, the whining may be characteristic of them. As for the ticking, it may also be characteristic of the aftermarket cam. What springs and pushrods did you use? Cam specs? You could always re-check the rocker arms just to be safe...

do u have headers? if so it could be the sound of the valves slamming shut and ur not used to it...the valve springs themselves are very loud as well...

I've heard that the Richmond gears are noisy, so it may be characteristic if the gears are set up right.

Ive set up richmond gears for years with no sound ect.. Better pull the cover and inspect the contact pattern before its too late. usually the whine can be corrected if not run too long

Does the whine affect its performance in any way?
