Default 332hp an 345 ft torque

I made 332hp and 345 ft/lbs of torque to wheels with a 5.3 that had only headers a cam and intake.

swapping to a 5.7 LS1 isnt needed, just do all the bolt ons, CAI, Headers, catback, and a TR220 cam and a good tune and 350 to the wheels is very easy to get, and has been done many times in the past. A 5.7 with the same mods will have alittle better torque and close to 400 RWHP is doable. But for what your friend wants, save the cash and just mod the 5.3.

Why would the 5.7 be better than the 6.0?

Kinda on-topic here considering the question of 5.3 vs 5.7, but if you can make some pretty respectable numbers for a DD out of a 5.3 with a moderately sized cam, would there be any benefit to keeping that instead of going bigger cubes from a gas mileage point of view?

This is the question that keeps coming up for my truck's swap from the puny 4.8. I drive it a lot being my DD, and I don't want my brick in the wind to get like 13-15mpg on the freeway from a modded 6.0 sucking the fuel down.

Well when considering swapping motors you also have to consider the future and the fact that you will never have enough horsepower, and if your going to consider the LS1 you have to remember the all aluminum block and heads which is not as good as the cast iron block of the 5.3 when it comes to applying a turbo or supercharger you can put more boost into the cast iron block than the aluminum motor.

What series 6.0 are thinking about putin in

LS1's are relatively cheap compared to a 6.0. If you are gonna do the swap, might as well stroke it. A 383 with good cam, and you are looking at 400+ to the wheels.

I'm starting a very slow build on the LS1 I pulled out of a wrecked goat this past weekend. Forged pistons, eagle crank, etc...
