well, i got it back together. no more noise at idle. there is a slight tick at idle and a noise when i give it gas under load. it seems like it increases more with exhaust than it does with rpm. its hard to explain. can push rods make this noise? i'm waiting on a ls6 cam so i didn't want to buy push rods twice, so i used the stockers.

LOL - there's just something funny about this photo...

the box "Nut Roaster" and the little hand really puts the picture out of perspective

Wow. I just saw your video over on LS1tech. That thing sounded worse than an old diesel!

That tick you are describing sounds just like what I have, which is coming from the valvetrain. I am told it is from the valves slamming shut harder with aftermarket springs.

Valves shouldnt "SLAM" Shut, the pushrod follows the cam lobe and gradually opens and closes the valves (at high speed of course)... it there is a tick then 99% of the time its either A) incorrect Pushrod length (too short) or B)incorrectly set lash on the rockers... which could also be a result of the pushrods... get the new cam in and check the pushrods and lash...

ever thing is stock besides patriot gold springs. fired it up early yesterday and it sounded like a sewing machine at idle for a few minute. i'm going wait on cam and do the 7.425" push rods.

so i put all the push rods from one side to the other and swapped all the rockers. sound is still on the same side. it seems almost like you can hear it up front too. i pull coil pack wires again and noise won't change. can a oil pump do this? a few people mentioned it what causes it to make the noise if it can?
