TR220 cam questions
I am looking to put a cam in my 01 ECSB silverado. I drive it daily but race it some on the weekends. I previously purchased a 04 Z06 cam and springs, but decided the cam was too mild for N/A like i wanted so I sold the cam.
I Kept the springs and want to buy a new cam to go in my 5.3L that will add some power, sound good and work with my springs.
I was looking at the TR220 on a 112lsa. Sounds good, I dont mind the idle at all. I will be adding a convertor soon as well as gears. I read that the lift is .558 or so and the spirngs are good for .570. is this too close? Can i safely run it with these springs? I dont mind turning an engine hard so I need the springs to be able to handle 5,500 + rpm once every few days.
Give me some guidence. I have tried to search and read but I couldnt really find what i was looking for. Bits and pieces.

I wouldn't be so worried about the lift as I would the seat pressure with those springs. I know that guys have run TR cams with yellow LS6 springs without problems, but the TR cams are supposed to have aggressive lobes that require extra seat pressure. The PAC 1218's have 130# of closed seat pressure vs. 90# for the LS6's, so if I were to run a TR220 those are the springs I'd run. As I mentioned though, guys have done it in the past without any problems.

Maybe you have a later batch, but I thought the ZO6 springs were only good to .550 lift? IMO, sell you springs and pick up a set of PAC 1218's. SDPC sells them for $124 IIRC. It would be worth the added security to me. Also, you could go with the TSP 220 if you wanted a little more lift.

If you decide to go with dual springs, MAKE DAMN SURE YOU CHANGE THE SEATS OUT TOO! I know from experience! I broke 10 out of my 16 springs and pulled a chunk out the head with the rocker!
