Has anyone had trouble installing valve seals on a 6.0 lq9. I was trying to push them down with a deep socket and ending up tearing the lil rubber on the valve seal. Any special tool or something 2 help better install them.

Valve seal installation tool! Comp and many other companies make this tool and it makes a big difference. It puts the pressure on the outside metal piece instead of banging on the rubber and having that spring fly off!

The tool matt is talking about is obviously the better choice, but, I've used a socket that fits on the outer edge of the seal many times when in a pinch

If the socket is hitting the rubber part, use a slightly bigger socket. Its not rocket science.

I tried all sockets. It just tears the rubber part of the seal

I have the tool that looks like that but is blue and it sucks. Maybe I got the wrong thing but it pushes on the spring and smashes the spring if you hit it to hard once bottomed. Glad I got a handful extra seals
