I just ordered a Fel-Pro gasket set that comes with the "top-hat" style valve seals rather than the "positive seal" type. The part number is HS9292PT1. Looks like a pretty complete set for the top end and should be good for a daily driver rebuild.

They changed the seals and seats to a 1 piece in 2001 i believe. 99-00 should have seperate seals and seats.

GM part numbers for the valve seals I bought for my 07 LY5. Different for intake and exhaust. These have the shim built in as one piece.

I just got my springs off and it has the 2 piece seals, I have the one piece since that is what it calls for via my vin #. Think it'll be fine installing the one piece? I took the first two seals off before I realized it, they seem to fit fine thou.

I'm guessing you can go from a two-piece seal to a one-piece w/o buying any extra parts. But to go from a one-piece to a two-piece I'm guessing you would have to buy some stock spring seats, which are dirt cheap on LS1tech.

Be sure to remove the shims(that used to be under the valve springs).
