True. I personally grenaded mine at less than 7k, but overreved it and snapped at least one rod bolt. At the same time though I know too many people consistalntly turning 7200 + on the stock short block. After I blew my 5.3 though the first thing I did on the new engine was rod bolts.

It's 'bigger' for sure. Especially the lobes that open up the intake valves.

He better hope they are over the 226 range. And they better open up a good bit too, like in the .58x" range

He didn't need a lobe with 226* of duration to surpass .580'' of lift.

what upgrades will i need to run over .551 lift?? thanks for all the input guys i love this site, wonderful help

well you can go up to .600" lift without P to V clearance issues. Comp cams 918 valvesprings are probably the most used and the best for that cam. If i were you i would run 918s with some 7.400" Chromoly pushrods.

just remember when using a hardend pushrod, the valves will bend before the pushrods. i personally would rather change pushrods then have to replace valves and do head work along with finding new pistons and etc

so i believe for my next cam swap ill be going with the 216/224 .551 from VHP it was between that and a tr 224/224 but thanks to 99silverado i have been convinced....thanks to all
