The 4.8 are nice check out last months HOT ROD magazine and the ls motor build that they built on 90% stock internals it was an awesome article tt4.8 that put out 1100 hp and they were trying to blow it up and still after 65+ dyno runs it never missed a beat....... it might give u some ideas but if it was me id go with a automatic bc ur gonna explode some truck trannys with a boosted 4.8 and not to mention finding a clutch that wil hold........ id swap a 4l80e or even a built 4l60e if it were me

If you're set on a manual, you will need to swap to a beefier unit (either T-56 or one of the HD units) if you plan on making anywhere near the amount of power you intend to make. You can hit your number with the 4.8 if you wish, but FI will be necessary. Whether you forcefeed the 4.8 or build a big engine to make the number, you will be spending over $5k under the hood alone, not to mention the transmission swap necessary to take that kind of power.

I really don't see it living through much abuse at that power level, but it would be interesting to find out what he did regardless

i would say keep the 5 speed swap in a 6.0 leave it stock with some bolt ons lt headers and a tune . top it with some nice gears and a true track makes a nice daily driver .

I read the article it's interesting though I'm not gonna reach this number of hp I wish I could but yeah man I don't like the auto is because it doesn't have as much power as the 5spd and when it comes to maintenance the auto tranny is more complecated

I don't think the tranny needs to be changed though. The 4.8 is pretty good engine, but does it worth it to put such a mount of money or swapping it is the best bit?

What engine did you mean when you said 6.0?
